Daily Activity Guidelines


To truly thrive, teens must incorporate at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily. That's correct-aerobic activity such as running, cycling, swimming or sports such as soccer, basketball or baseball that get your heart pumping and challenge your cardiovascular system-hard should occupy most of the time. Strength activities such as resistance training, push-ups and squats should be done at least three times weekly. And so do bone-strengthening exercise like basketball, gymnastics, skipping and jumping-these make bone and even create new bone. It's all a matter of getting the variety into it.


Screen Time & Sleep Recommendations


There has to be a balance between relaxation, activity, and screen time for the health of adolescents, as shown below:


• Two hours of optimal screen time have to be permitted every day, excluding schoolwork. Research shows an association between prolonged screen time and severed postures and eye strains and sleep disruptions and inconsistency in the activity level of an individual.


• Sleeping is important as an 8-10-hour night's sleep allows a person to recover maximally as well as to improve cognitive function and emotional well-being. Establish a routine of sleeping regularly, as it also improves concentration, school work, and overall mood states.


• Allowing outdoor playtime, social interaction, or creative activities may help minimize screen time and having individuals on their feet roaming around in an active lifestyle.


Thus, it will boost fitness, focus, and well-being thereby decreasing chances of becoming a victim of such illnesses like obesity, heart disease, and even psychological problems among others.
